Richmond at Rhode Island

SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (Interstat) — A critical Atlantic 10 rematch with postseason implications is set for Saturday when the Rhode Island Rams host the Richmond Spiders at the Ryan Center.

The Rams (13-9, 4-5 A-10) edged the Spiders (13-10, 4-6) 69-68 just over two weeks ago in Richmond on Jan. 21. That result is part of a starkly different recent trajectory for the two teams. Rhode Island has won three of its last five, including an overtime road victory at then-conference leader Dayton. Richmond, meanwhile, arrives mired in a five-game losing skid, most recently a 79-54 home loss to Davidson on Jan. 31.

Rhode Island is led by guard Tyler Cochran, who has been a consistent force. He scored 18 points in the first meeting against Richmond and is averaging 19.2 points over his last five games, including a 21-point effort in the win at Dayton.

For the struggling Spiders, finding consistent offense has been a challenge. Guard Will Johnston, a key player to watch, scored 11 points in the loss to Davidson but was held to six points in the prior loss to Rhode Island. Richmond will need more from its supporting cast, including Aiden Argabright and Jaylen Robinson, to snap its streak.

Both teams sit in the middle of the congested A-10 standings, making this a pivotal game for conference tournament seeding. A win would bolster Rhode Island’s position and complete a regular-season sweep. For Richmond, a victory on the road is crucial to stop its slide and gain a measure of revenge.

The game tips off at 4 p.m. EST on Saturday, Feb. 7, 2026. Rhode Island will look to protect its home court, where it is 9-3 this season, while Richmond seeks its first true road win since Jan. 4.
