SOUTH CAROLINA SEEKS ROAD UPSET AT NO. 15 TEXAS A&M

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (Interstat) — The Texas A&M Aggies, riding high in the Southeastern Conference standings, host the South Carolina Gamecocks on Saturday at Reed Arena.

Texas A&M (15-4) has won five of its last six games, including an 88-68 rout of Mississippi State on Wednesday. The Aggies’ surge has been fueled by forward Rashaun Agee, who is averaging 16.4 points and 5.4 rebounds over his last seven contests. He scored 23 points with five assists in the win over the Bulldogs.

South Carolina (11-8) arrives after an 85-76 home victory over Oklahoma, snapping a three-game skid. The Gamecocks are 1-4 in true road games this season.

Guard Meechie Johnson is the catalyst for South Carolina, averaging 17.1 points and 5.0 assists per game. He scored 20 points in the win over Oklahoma and poured in 29 in a loss at Arkansas on Jan. 14. He will need a similar high-output performance for the Gamecocks to challenge the Aggies on their home floor.

Texas A&M holds a distinct advantage in record and recent form. The Aggies’ only loss since Dec. 7 was a double-overtime defeat at Tennessee. South Carolina has struggled for consistency in league play, particularly on defense, allowing 108 points in a lopsided loss at Arkansas.

The Aggies won both meetings last season. Tipoff is set for Saturday afternoon in a key SEC matchup as Texas A&M looks to solidify its position near the top of the conference while South Carolina aims to build momentum from its midweek win.
