Tulane at Texas-San Antonio

Preview: Surging Tulane Visits Struggling UTSA in AAC Matchup

SAN ANTONIO (Interstat) — A clash of American Athletic Conference teams on opposite trajectories is set for Saturday when the Tulane Green Wave visit the Texas-San Antonio Roadrunners at the Convocation Center.

Tulane (11-4) enters riding a four-game winning streak, including a 69-66 conference victory over Florida Atlantic on Jan. 4. The Green Wave’s success has been fueled by guard Rowan Brumbaugh, who is averaging 17.6 points over his last five games. He scored 20 points in the win over FAU.

Conversely, UTSA (4-11) looks to snap a six-game skid. The Roadrunners are coming off a 74-58 home loss to Charlotte on Wednesday. Guard Austin Nunez has been a bright spot, averaging 12.6 points over his last five contests and scoring 16 in the loss to Charlotte.

The matchup presents a stark contrast in momentum. Tulane’s recent run includes tight victories over Portland State (63-61) and Louisiana Tech (61-53), showcasing an ability to win close games. UTSA has faced a brutal schedule, with recent losses to power conference foes Colorado, Alabama and Southern California by wide margins.

For the Roadrunners, containing Brumbaugh will be a primary focus. Tulane’s guard has logged heavy minutes, playing at least 33 in each of the last five games while facilitating the offense. UTSA will need a significant performance from Nunez and forward Dorian Hayes, who added 15 points against Charlotte, to keep pace.

The game is the first of a two-game Texas swing for Tulane, which hosts UAB on Jan. 14. UTSA continues a three-game homestand and will host Rice on Jan. 14.

Tipoff is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 10, 2026, in San Antonio.
