Texas A&M at Auburn
Preview: Texas A&M at Auburn in SEC Men’s Basketball
AUBURN, Ala. (Interstat) — Two Southeastern Conference teams trending in opposite directions will meet Tuesday night when the surging Texas A&M Aggies visit the reeling Auburn Tigers at Auburn Arena.
Texas A&M (11-3) enters on a four-game winning streak, including a 75-72 conference-opening victory over LSU on Saturday. The Aggies’ offense has been potent, scoring 111 or more points in three of their last four contests.
Auburn (9-5), meanwhile, looks to rebound from a difficult overtime loss, 104-100 at Georgia, also on Saturday. The defeat was the Tigers’ third in their last five games, a stretch that includes a 28-point road loss to then-Purdue.
The matchup features a compelling clash in the frontcourt. Texas A&M is led by forward Rashaun Agee, who is averaging 16 points over his last four games. He scored 15 in the win over LSU. Auburn counters with versatile forward Keyshawn Hall, who posted 20 points, seven rebounds and four assists in the overtime loss at Georgia. Hall has scored in double figures in 12 of 14 games this season.
The Aggies have built their record largely at home, with their three losses coming away from College Station, including an overtime defeat at SMU. This game opens a two-game road swing for Texas A&M. Auburn seeks to protect its home court, where it is 7-1 this season, the lone blemish a one-point loss to Houston in November.
Historically, Auburn has dominated the series, winning 12 of the last 14 meetings. However, the Aggies’ current form, anchored by efficient scoring and Agee’s consistent production, presents a significant challenge for a Tigers squad needing to stabilize its conference standing.
Tuesday’s contest tips off at 9 p.m. EST and will be televised on the SEC Network.
