Oregon State at Pacific
STOCKTON, Calif. (Interstat) — A pair of teams seeking consistency will meet Friday night when the Oregon State Beavers visit the Pacific Tigers in a nonconference men’s basketball matchup at the A.C. Spanos Center.
Oregon State (8-7) enters on a modest upswing, having defeated San Francisco 70-62 on Tuesday to snap a two-game skid. The Beavers’ season has been marked by volatility, including a 102-64 loss to Santa Clara on Dec. 28 immediately preceding their win over the Dons.
Pacific (9-6) looks to rebound on its home floor after dropping its last two road games, most recently a 71-80 decision at Loyola Marymount on Tuesday. The Tigers have been strong in Stockton, boasting a 6-1 record at home this season, with the lone loss coming against California.
A key matchup will feature two of the teams’ top performers. Oregon State guard Isaiah Sy is coming off an 18-point effort in 30 minutes against San Francisco, demonstrating his scoring ability after a quiet outing in the loss to Santa Clara. For Pacific, forward Elias Ralph has been a consistent force, averaging 14.8 points per game. He poured in 25 points in a win over Nicholls State on Dec. 21 and logged 40 minutes in the loss to LMU.
The Beavers will rely on Sy alongside Dez White, who dished out six assists against San Francisco, and Josiah Lake, who added 14 points. The Tigers counter with Ralph and backcourt contributors Jaden Clayton, who had eight assists last time out, and TJ Wainwright, a double-digit scorer.
This game begins a crucial stretch for both programs as they navigate their final nonconference tune-ups before deeper dives into their respective schedules. The teams will meet again in a return fixture at Oregon State on Jan. 17.
Friday’s contest tips off at 7 p.m. PST.
