WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.Va. (Interstat) — An undefeated South Carolina squad will put its perfect record on the line Friday when it faces Butler in a non-conference men’s basketball game at the Greenbrier Resort.

The Gamecocks (4-0) are off to a strong start, coming off an 87-58 victory over Radford on Tuesday where Eli Ellis scored 14 points and Elijah Strong added 15. Their most significant test so far was a season-opening 83-79 overtime win against Southern Mississippi.

Butler (3-1) arrives looking to rebound from its first loss of the season, an 85-87 defeat at SMU on Saturday. In that game, Michael Ajayi recorded a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds, while Finley Bizjack led the Bulldogs with 18 points. Prior to the loss, Butler’s offense was potent, scoring 98, 112 and 88 points in three consecutive wins.

The neutral-site contest pits the Bulldogs’ high-scoring attack against a South Carolina defense that has held three of its four opponents under 62 points.

Following this game, Butler will remain in White Sulphur Springs to face Virginia on Sunday. South Carolina will also stay at the resort to take on Northwestern in its next contest.
