Tennessee State at Western Kentucky
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (Interstat) — Two undefeated home teams have defined the early season for Western Kentucky. The Hilltoppers will look to protect that home court advantage again Sunday when they host the high-scoring Tennessee State Tigers in a non-conference men’s basketball game.
Western Kentucky (2-0) is coming off an 87-79 road win over Eastern Kentucky on Monday. Teagan Moore led the way with 22 points and six rebounds, while Armelo Boone added 14 points, six rebounds and five assists. The Hilltoppers also opened their season with an 82-70 home victory over Tennessee Tech.
They will face a Tennessee State (2-1) team that boasts a potent offense, averaging 98 points per game. The Tigers are fresh off a 114-76 rout of Oakwood on Tuesday. In that game, Aaron Nkrumah poured in 25 points in just 20 minutes, and Travis Harper added 18 points and seven assists. Sandwiched between blowout wins over Fisk and Oakwood, however, was an 87-79 road loss to Belmont.
The game pits Western Kentucky’s unblemished record against a Tennessee State squad looking to prove its explosive offense can travel. The Hilltoppers have won both of their games by an average of 10 points.
