North Texas at Saint Mary`s
MORAGA, Calif. (Interstat) — The undefeated Saint Mary’s Gaels will put their perfect record on the line Friday when they host the North Texas Mean Green in a non-conference men’s basketball matchup.
Saint Mary’s (3-0) has looked dominant in its early schedule, winning each of its first three games by at least 23 points. The Gaels are coming off a 90-60 rout of Ohio on Tuesday, where Liam Campbell scored 20 points in just 20 minutes of play.
North Texas (3-1) arrives in California looking to rebound from its first loss of the season, a narrow 66-64 defeat at Oregon State on Wednesday. Despite the loss, the Mean Green showed resilience, with Je’Shawn Stevenson scoring 14 points and Dylan Arnett recording a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds. David Terrell added 13 points and a team-high seven assists in the effort.
The game pits North Texas, which has relied on a strong defense in its early wins, against a high-powered Saint Mary’s offense that is averaging 87 points per game. The Gaels’ offense has been efficient, with Campbell, Paulius Murauskas and Mikey Lewis all averaging double figures.
Friday’s contest will be the final home game for Saint Mary’s before a two-game trip to the Bahamas. North Texas continues a challenging early-season road stretch before returning home to face Central Arkansas on Nov. 20.
