EDINBURG, Texas (Interstat) — Texas A&M-Corpus Christi held off Texas-Rio Grande Valley for a 63-59 victory in a men’s NCAA Division I basketball game Saturday at UT Pan Am Field House.

The Islanders, who led 28-28 at halftime, used a stronger second half to secure the win. Both teams struggled offensively, with the Vaqueros shooting just 2 for 19 from three-point range. Jaylen Washington led Texas-Rio Grande Valley with 15 points and seven assists, while Filip Brankovic added 14 points. Nicholas Shogbonyo scored 11 points for Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.

The Islanders improved to 7-7 overall. The Vaqueros fell to 5-9. Attendance was 1,173.
