Sacred Heart at Duquesne
PITTSBURGH (Interstat) — Two teams coming off dominant season-opening victories will meet Friday night when the Sacred Heart Pioneers visit the Duquesne Dukes at A.J. Palumbo Center.
Both teams enter the Nov. 7 contest with 1-0 records. Sacred Heart is riding high after a 103-46 rout of Merchant Marine on Tuesday. Anquan Hill led the way with a double-double, scoring 21 points and grabbing 12 rebounds, while Dashon Gittens added 18 points.
Duquesne opened its season on Monday with an 83-63 win over Niagara. Tarence Guinyard paced the Dukes’ offense with 19 points and five assists, and Jimmie Williams contributed 15 points.
The game is part of a challenging early-season stretch for both squads. Following this matchup, Sacred Heart will travel to face Villanova on Nov. 11, while Duquesne will host Queens (N.C.) on the same date. The contest offers both the Pioneers and Dukes an opportunity to build momentum before facing high-major conference opponents next week.
