Queens (N.C.) at Central Arkansas
CONWAY, Ark. (Interstat) — A critical late-season ASUN Conference clash with postseason implications is set for Saturday when the Central Arkansas Bears host the Queens (N.C.) Royals at the Farris Center.
Both teams enter the 7 p.m. tipoff on strong runs. The Bears (19-11) have won eight of their last 10 games, while the Royals (18-12) have secured victories in seven of their last nine. The matchup carries added weight as they jockey for seeding in the upcoming conference tournament.
Central Arkansas won the first meeting this season, 100-90, in Charlotte on Jan. 28. The Bears will look to replicate that high-scoring performance and complete the regular-season sweep.
A key battle will feature two of the league’s top performers. Queens is led by guard Yoav Berman, who is coming off a 24-point, six-assist effort in a 96-79 road win at Eastern Kentucky on Wednesday. Over his last five games, Berman is averaging 17.2 points and 4.6 assists.
He will be countered by Central Arkansas guard Javion Guy-King, who exploded for a career-high 34 points in the Bears’ 93-88 victory at Austin Peay on Wednesday. Guy-King’s scoring outburst highlights a potent Bears offense that has topped 90 points in three of its last five contests.
Queens has shown resilience, winning its last three games by an average of 8.7 points following a two-game skid earlier this month. Their offense has been consistently potent, scoring at least 85 points in eight of their last ten outings.
Central Arkansas has found its stride at home, winning five straight in Conway. Their defense during that stretch has been formidable, holding opponents to an average of 68.2 points per game.
Saturday’s result will significantly impact the final ASUN standings, with both teams aiming to build momentum ahead of the conference tournament.
