South Carolina at Auburn

AUBURN, Ala. (Interstat) — Two teams seeking momentum in the Southeastern Conference will meet Saturday when the Auburn Tigers host the South Carolina Gamecocks at Auburn Arena.

Both teams enter the contest with identical 10-7 overall records and are looking to rebound from midweek road losses. South Carolina fell 108-74 at Arkansas on Wednesday, while Auburn dropped an 84-74 decision at Missouri.

The matchup features a key battle in the backcourt, where South Carolina’s Meechie Johnson will look to continue his high-scoring ways against Auburn’s defensive pressure. Johnson is coming off a 29-point, six-assist performance in the loss to Arkansas, averaging 18.2 points over his last five games. His ability to create offense will be critical for a Gamecocks squad that has lost three of its last four.

Auburn will counter with forward Sebastian Williams-Adams, who provides versatility. He scored 12 points off the bench at Missouri and had a 10-point, three-block performance against Queens (N.C.) late last month. The Tigers will need production across the roster to improve upon a 1-3 start in SEC play.

South Carolina’s conference record mirrors Auburn’s at 1-3. Both teams have struggled defensively in recent losses, with the Gamecocks allowing an average of 88.3 points in their three SEC defeats and Auburn giving up 90 points per game in its conference losses.

The Gamecocks have shown flashes, including a 78-68 win at LSU on Jan. 6, but consistency has been an issue. Auburn’s most impressive win was a 95-73 rout of Arkansas last Saturday, demonstrating its potential when playing at home.

History in the series favors Auburn, which has won seven of the last ten meetings. The Tigers won both matchups last season.

Saturday’s game is the only scheduled meeting between the teams this regular season. Following this contest, South Carolina returns home to face Oklahoma on Tuesday, while Auburn travels to face Mississippi.

Tip-off is set for Saturday, Jan. 17, 2026, at Auburn Arena. The game will be televised on the SEC Network.
