Arkansas at Georgia
ATHENS, Ga. (Interstat) — A pivotal Southeastern Conference men’s basketball showdown is set for Saturday at Stegeman Coliseum as the Georgia Bulldogs host the Arkansas Razorbacks.
Both teams enter with impressive records and top-25 aspirations. Georgia (14-3, 2-2 SEC) looks to rebound from a heartbreaking 97-95 overtime loss to Mississippi on Wednesday. Arkansas (13-4, 3-1) arrives riding high after a dominant 108-74 victory over South Carolina that same night.
The matchup features two of the league’s most dynamic scorers. Arkansas is led by guard Meleek Thomas, who is averaging 17.4 points per game. Thomas is coming off a 21-point performance against South Carolina and has scored 18 or more in three of his last five contests.
Georgia’s offense runs through guard Jeremiah Wilkinson, who is capable of explosive outings. Wilkinson poured in a career-high 32 points in the overtime loss to Mississippi and had 31 in a win over Auburn on Jan. 3. His ability to carry the scoring load will be critical against Arkansas’s pressure defense.
The Razorbacks have won three of their last four, with their only recent blemish a 95-73 road loss at Auburn. Their high-powered offense, which also features guard Darius Acuff Jr. (18 points, 13 assists vs. South Carolina), averages over 88 points per game.
The Bulldogs’ season has been marked by both blowout wins and narrow defeats, with their three losses coming by a combined 11 points. They will need to tighten a defense that allowed 97 points in their last outing to contain Arkansas’s up-tempo attack.
This contest represents a significant early conference test for both squads as they jockey for position in the crowded SEC standings. Georgia holds a slight edge in the all-time series, 27-24, but Arkansas has won four of the last six meetings.
Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. EST on Saturday, Jan. 17, 2026. The game will be televised on the SEC Network.
