Robert Morris at Detroit

Preview: Robert Morris Colonials at Detroit Titans

DETROIT (Interstat) — Horizon League play resumes Friday as the Robert Morris Colonials visit the Detroit Titans at Calihan Hall.

The Colonials (10-5, 0-1 Horizon) aim to bounce back from a narrow conference-opening defeat, while the Titans (6-7, 1-0) look to build on a road victory that evened their record.

Robert Morris enters with the stronger overall mark but is coming off a 79-77 home loss to Northern Kentucky on Monday. The Colonials have shown resilience, however, winning five of their last seven games. Their offense runs through guard DeSean Goode, who has scored in double figures in seven straight contests. Goode is averaging 19.9 points per game over that stretch, including a 26-point effort at Milwaukee and a 24-point, 8-rebound performance at Saint Francis (PA).

Detroit countered its own slow start with a 73-68 win at Youngstown State on Monday, led by Orlando Lovejoy’s 22 points. Lovejoy has been a key scorer for the Titans, topping 17 points in three of his last five games. The Titans’ season includes a mix of blowout wins over non-Division I opponents and competitive losses to power conference foes like Michigan State and DePaul.

The matchup features contrasting styles. Robert Morris boasts a more potent and efficient offense, while Detroit will rely on its defense, which held Cleveland State to 59 points and Youngstown State to 68 in recent wins. Containing Goode will be a primary focus for the Titans’ backcourt.

Historically, this series has been closely contested. Friday’s game offers Robert Morris a chance to secure its first league win and for Detroit to gain momentum before a tough upcoming stretch.

Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST. The Colonials travel to face Oakland on Sunday, while Detroit’s next game is at home against Wright State on Jan. 9.
