Alabama Routs Mississippi State Behind Blistering First-Half Offense

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (Interstat) — A blistering first-half offensive explosion from Alabama proved far too much for Mississippi State to overcome as the Crimson Tide rolled to a 100-75 victory in a Southeastern Conference men’s basketball game Wednesday night at a packed Coleman Coliseum.

The Crimson Tide, improving to 21-7 overall, seized control of the contest almost from the opening tip, building a commanding 30-point halftime lead that effectively decided the outcome before the teams headed to the locker rooms. Alabama’s 63-point first-half performance was a masterclass in efficient, high-octane offense, leaving the visiting Bulldogs in a deep hole they could not climb out of despite a more competitive second half.

The game’s most important sequence was Alabama’s initial onslaught. After Mississippi State’s Achor Achor opened the scoring with a hook shot, the Crimson Tide responded with a devastating 15-2 run, fueled by precise three-point shooting and unselfish ball movement. London Jemison, Aden Holloway and Amari Allen all connected from deep during the surge, with Holloway orchestrating the offense. The Tide’s lead ballooned to 30 points, 63-33, by halftime after Latrell Wrightsell Jr. nailed a three-pointer in the final minute. That first-half margin, built on 63% shooting from the field and 10 made three-pointers, rendered the final 20 minutes a formality.

Alabama’s star forward Amari Allen, a 6-foot-7 sophomore from Green Bay, Wisconsin, led all scorers with 23 points, continuing his strong late-season form. He was a perfect 5-for-5 from three-point range in the first half, providing the early knockout punches that demoralized the Bulldogs. Point guard Aden Holloway recorded a double-double with 16 points and 10 assists, expertly managing the Tide’s transition attack. Wrightsell added 18 points and five assists, while Aiden Sherrell and Taylor Bol Bowen contributed 11 and 10 points, respectively, off the bench.

Mississippi State, which fell to 11-15, was led by Achor Achor’s 18 points. Reserve guard King Grace provided a second-half spark, scoring all 13 of his points after the break. Josh Hubbard finished with 11 points and four assists for the Bulldogs, who shot better in the second half but could never trim the deficit below 20 points.

The Crimson Tide’s offensive firepower was the story, as they consistently found open shooters and capitalized on 15 Mississippi State turnovers, converting them into 23 points. Alabama also dominated in the paint, outscoring the Bulldogs 42-26 inside.

The victory keeps Alabama in strong contention near the top of the SEC standings as the regular season enters its final stretch. Mississippi State, meanwhile, continues to search for consistency in a challenging season.

The announced attendance was 13,474. Alabama next travels to face Tennessee on Saturday, while Mississippi State returns home to host Missouri.
