Southeastern Louisiana at Stephen F. Austin

NACOGDOCHES, Texas (Interstat) — A surging Stephen F. Austin team will look to continue its dominant season when it hosts struggling Southeastern Louisiana in a men’s NCAA Division I basketball rematch on Saturday, Jan. 31, 2026, at William R. Johnson Coliseum.

The Lumberjacks (18-3) have established themselves as a force, winning nine of their last 10 games. Their lone loss in that stretch was a two-point road defeat at McNeese State on Jan. 5. They are coming off a tight 69-67 home victory over Northwestern State on Tuesday, where guard Keon Thompson poured in 27 points.

Thompson has been the engine for Stephen F. Austin, averaging 20.4 points over his last five games. He scored 17 points in the teams’ first meeting this season, a 73-63 Lumberjacks win in Hammond, Louisiana, on Jan. 3.

The visiting Southeastern Louisiana Lions (6-15) have lost seven of their last nine, including a 76-66 home loss to McNeese State on Tuesday. In that game, forward Makhi Myles led the Lions with 16 points. Myles was a bright spot in the first matchup with Stephen F. Austin, scoring a season-high 20 points.

The Lions will need another standout performance from Myles and must find a way to slow Thompson to have a chance on the road. Stephen F. Austin has been nearly unbeatable at home this season, while Southeastern Louisiana has struggled away from home.

The game tips off a critical stretch for both teams as they navigate the conference schedule. Stephen F. Austin aims to solidify its position at the top of the standings, while Southeastern Louisiana seeks a season-altering upset to build momentum.
