Preview: Texas at Auburn in Key SEC Men’s Basketball Clash

AUBURN, Ala. (Interstat) — A pivotal Southeastern Conference men’s basketball matchup awaits Wednesday night at Auburn Arena as the surging Auburn Tigers host the Texas Longhorns.

Both teams enter with momentum from weekend victories. Auburn (13-7, 4-3 SEC) has won three straight, including a 76-67 road win at Florida on Saturday. Texas (12-8, 3-4 SEC) snapped a two-game skid with an emphatic 87-67 home victory over Georgia the same day.

The game features two of the league’s most dynamic scorers in a head-to-head battle. Texas guard Dailyn Swain is averaging 24.1 points over his last seven games, including a 34-point outburst against Mississippi State and a 29-point effort at Kentucky. He scored 26 in the win over Georgia.

Auburn counters with forward Keyshawn Hall, who has topped 30 points twice in SEC play and is coming off a 24-point, 4-assist performance against Florida. Hall is a versatile offensive threat who also contributes as a playmaker and defender.

Team trends, however, diverge. Auburn has found its footing after a 1-3 start in conference play, leveraging its home-court advantage where it is 9-2 this season. Texas has struggled on the road in the SEC, dropping contests at Kentucky, Tennessee and Alabama. A win at Auburn Arena would mark a significant résumé boost for the Longhorns.

In their last outing, Texas received strong support from Tramon Mark (23 points) and Matas Vokietaitis (14 points, 8 rebounds) alongside Swain. Auburn’s KeShawn Murphy (16 points) and Kevin Overton (10 points) provided key secondary scoring against Florida.

The Longhorns won the only prior meeting between the programs last season, 76-71, in Austin. This will be Texas’ first visit to Auburn Arena since 2019.

Following this matchup, Auburn faces a quick turnaround with a road game at Tennessee on Saturday. Texas travels to face Oklahoma on Saturday.
