Wyoming at Utah State

Preview: Wyoming Cowboys at No. -- Utah State Aggies

LOGAN, Utah (Interstat) — The surging Utah State Aggies, boasting one of the nation’s top records, will look to protect their home court when they host the struggling Wyoming Cowboys in a Mountain West Conference clash Wednesday night at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum.

Utah State (16-3) enters as one of the conference’s dominant forces, having won 10 of its last 12 games. Their most recent outing was a gritty 65-61 road victory at Colorado State last Friday, led by 20 points from standout guard MJ Collins. Collins has been on a scoring tear, averaging 18.4 points over his last eight contests and providing consistent offensive firepower for the Aggies’ high-powered attack.

Wyoming (12-8) aims to build momentum after snapping a four-game skid with a 66-62 home win over San Jose State last Saturday. The Cowboys have found the going tough in conference play, however, and face a daunting task on the road against a Utah State team that is 9-1 at home this season.

A key matchup will feature Wyoming’s Gavin Gores against Utah State’s Collins. Gores, coming off a 15-point, 6-rebound performance against San Jose State, has been a bright spot for the Cowboys, scoring in double figures in four of his last six games. Containing Collins, who has scored 20 or more points in four of his last eight outings, will be critical for Wyoming’s chances.

The Aggies have dominated recent meetings and their balanced scoring, coupled with a stout defense allowing just 62.9 points per game in conference play, presents a significant challenge. Wyoming, which averages 75.2 points overall, has been held under 66 points in four of its five conference losses.

Utah State’s home venue, the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum, has long been a fortress, and the Aggies will be heavily favored to extend their success there. Wyoming seeks a season-defining upset to climb the Mountain West standings.

Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. MST Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2026.
