Auburn at Florida

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (Interstat) — Two Southeastern Conference men’s basketball teams trending in opposite directions will meet Saturday when the Florida Gators host the Auburn Tigers at the O’Connell Center.

Florida (14-5) enters on a five-game winning streak, including a dominant 79-61 victory over LSU on Tuesday. The Gators have found their rhythm in conference play, boasting a 5-1 SEC record. Their offense has been potent, averaging 89.2 points during the win streak. Guard Urban Klavzar has been a key contributor, coming off an 18-point performance against LSU and averaging 12.7 points over his last three games.

Auburn (12-7) has been inconsistent, alternating wins and losses over its past seven games. The Tigers are coming off a 78-66 road win at Mississippi on Tuesday but are just 3-4 in SEC play. Their success often hinges on the explosive output of guard Keyshawn Hall. Hall is averaging 22.4 points over his last five contests, including a 30-point effort in a win over Arkansas and a 32-point performance in a narrow loss to Texas A&M.

The matchup pits Florida’s surging, balanced attack against an Auburn team reliant on Hall’s scoring punch. The Gators have defended home court well this season, while the Tigers have struggled away from home, including recent road losses at Missouri and Georgia.

Saturday’s contest is the only scheduled meeting between the teams this regular season. Following the game, Florida will travel to face South Carolina on Jan. 28, while Auburn will host Texas on the same date.
