Southeastern Louisiana at McNeese State

LAKE CHARLES, La. (Interstat) — A surging McNeese State squad will look to protect its home court and solidify its position atop the Southland Conference when it hosts struggling Southeastern Louisiana on Saturday.

The Cowboys (12-3) have won nine of their last 10 games, including a 66-64 league victory over Stephen F. Austin on Monday. They are a perfect 7-0 at Burton Coliseum this season. McNeese’s high-powered offense is led by guard Tyshawn Archie, who is coming off a 16-point performance in just 17 minutes against Stephen F. Austin.

Southeastern Louisiana (5-10) snapped a four-game skid with a 60-52 home win over Lamar on Monday. The Lions have struggled on the road, posting a 1-7 record away from home. They will rely on guard Jeremy Elyzee, who has scored in double figures in four of his last six games and provides steady all-around play.

McNeese State has dominated recent matchups, winning the last five meetings between the teams. The Cowboys won both contests last season by an average of 18 points.

The game is a key early conference test for both teams. McNeese State aims to continue its best start in years, while Southeastern Louisiana seeks a statement road win to turn its season around. The teams will meet again in Hammond on Jan. 26.

Tipoff is set for Saturday afternoon at Burton Coliseum.
