LOWELL, Mass. (Interstat) — Xavier Spencer scored 23 points to lead Massachusetts-Lowell to an 83-71 victory over Albany in a men’s NCAA Division I basketball game Saturday at Costello Athletic Center.

The River Hawks improved to 6-10 overall, while the Great Danes fell to 4-12. Spencer added six rebounds and five assists for Massachusetts-Lowell, which led 36-28 at halftime and maintained control throughout the second half. Albany’s Okechukwu Okeke recorded 16 points, eight rebounds and four blocks in the loss.

Massachusetts-Lowell capitalized on Albany’s mistakes, scoring 17 points off 10 turnovers. The River Hawks also held advantages in offensive rebounds and fast-break points before an announced crowd of 636.
