Tennessee State Edges UNLV in Defensive Struggle

LAS VEGAS (Interstat) — Tennessee State edged UNLV 63-60 in a low-possession men’s basketball game Saturday at the Thomas & Mack Center. The Tigers improved to 6-4 while the Runnin’ Rebels fell to 4-6.

Both teams struggled offensively, combining to shoot 5 of 31 from 3-point range. UNLV’s 19-of-32 performance at the free throw line proved costly. Dra Gibbs-Lawhorn led UNLV with 13 points. Travis Harper and Aaron Nkrumah each scored 12 for Tennessee State, which overcame a four-point halftime deficit by holding UNLV to 27 second-half points. The Tigers secured the win despite being a double-digit pregame underdog.
