Grand Canyon at Utah State
LOGAN, Utah (Interstat) — A surging Grand Canyon team will look to spoil Utah State’s formidable home-court advantage when the teams meet in a men’s NCAA Division I basketball game Saturday at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum.
The Antelopes (17-10) enter with momentum from an 80-67 win over UNLV on Wednesday, powered by 28 points from standout guard Jaden Henley. The visiting Antelopes have won three of their last four, including notable road victories at San Diego State and San Jose State.
Henley has been the catalyst, averaging 20.6 points over his last eight games. He scored 28 points in the teams’ first meeting this season, an 84-74 Grand Canyon win in Phoenix on Jan. 17.
The 23rd-ranked Aggies (23-5), however, are a different force in Nibley. Utah State is 13-1 at home this season, with its only loss an 86-76 defeat to UNLV in January. They are coming off an 89-72 road loss at San Diego State, which snapped a five-game winning streak.
Guard MJ Collins leads Utah State, coming off an 18-point performance against the Aztecs. He averaged 17.4 points during the Aggies’ recent win streak and will be key in avenging January’s loss.
Grand Canyon’s recent success has been fueled by offensive efficiency, scoring 80 or more points in four of their last five wins. Utah State counters with a high-powered attack of its own, having scored 91 or more points in three of its last five home games.
The matchup hinges on Grand Canyon’s ability to withstand the intense environment of the Spectrum. A win would bolster the Antelopes’ postseason resume, while the Aggies aim to protect their home floor and solidify their standing atop the conference.
The game tips off at 7 p.m. MST Saturday.
