Grand Canyon at San Diego State

SAN DIEGO (Interstat) — A pivotal rematch awaits Tuesday afternoon when the Grand Canyon Antelopes visit the San Diego State Aztecs at Viejas Arena, just four weeks after the Antelopes escaped with a one-point home victory.

The Feb. 17 showdown carries significant weight for both teams’ postseason aspirations in a tight conference race. San Diego State (18-6), ranked 22nd in the latest AP poll, seeks to protect its home court and avenge a 70-69 loss in Phoenix on Jan. 21. The Aztecs have won three straight since that defeat, including a convincing 71-57 win over Nevada last Saturday led by Reese Dixon-Waters’ 20 points.

Grand Canyon (15-9) arrives riding the momentum of a 94-79 road win at San Jose State, powered by a standout performance from guard Jaden Henley. The Antelopes’ floor general tallied 24 points, five rebounds and eight assists in that victory. Henley, who hit the game-winning shot in the first meeting, has been on a tear, averaging 18.1 points over his last seven games. He scored 17 points with seven rebounds in the January win over SDSU.

Dixon-Waters is the focal point for the Aztecs, averaging 17.1 points per game in that same seven-game span. His scoring efficiency will be critical against a Grand Canyon defense that has shown vulnerability on the road, with recent losses at UNLV and Nevada.

The Antelopes’ win in January snapped a three-game skid in the series. San Diego State, known for its defensive intensity and raucous home environment, holds a 12-2 record at Viejas Arena this season. Grand Canyon is 5-5 in true road games.

With both teams jockeying for position ahead of next month’s conference tournament, this rematch offers Grand Canyon a chance to secure a season sweep and a Quad 1 win, while San Diego State aims to solidify its ranked status and reclaim momentum heading into the final stretch of the regular season.

Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. PST. The game will be televised on CBS Sports Network.
