Cal Poly at UC Davis
DAVIS, Calif. (Interstat) — A surging UC Davis looks to solidify its position in the Big West Conference standings and avenge an earlier loss when it hosts rival Cal Poly on Saturday at The Pavilion at ARC.
The Aggies (14-9) enter the contest having won three of their last four, including an 85-75 victory over UC Santa Barbara on Thursday. Guard Marcus Wilson keyed that win with 24 points and six assists, continuing a strong stretch where he has averaged 16.3 points over his last seven games. UC Davis, which sits in the upper tier of the conference, boasts a balanced attack but will be focused on slowing Cal Poly’s high-scoring guard.
The Mustangs (9-15) arrive reeling from a heartbreaking 97-96 home loss to Cal State Northridge on Thursday, despite a career-high 33 points from standout Hamad Mousa. The junior is averaging 22.4 points over his last five games and torched the Aggies for 24 points in the teams’ first meeting, a 84-78 Cal Poly win in San Luis Obispo on Jan. 10. In that game, UC Davis was held to 39.7% shooting.
Cal Poly’s season has been defined by offensive fireworks and defensive struggles. They rank among the conference’s top scoring teams but have allowed 90 or more points in four of their last eight games. Their two most recent wins were shootouts, scoring 94 and 104 points.
For UC Davis, the formula will center on defense and controlling the tempo. The Aggies have held opponents under 75 points in nine of their 14 wins this season. Containing Mousa, who has taken 78 field goal attempts in his last three outings, will be paramount.
The rematch carries weight for both sides. Cal Poly seeks a season sweep and proof it can win on the road, while UC Davis aims to protect its home court and improve its seeding for the upcoming Big West tournament.
Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. PST on Saturday, Feb. 7, 2026.
