Saint John`s at DePaul

ROSEMONT, Ill. (Interstat) — A surging Saint John’s squad looks to extend its winning streak when it visits a struggling DePaul team in a Big East Conference men’s basketball matchup Tuesday at Allstate Arena.

The Red Storm (16-5) enter on a seven-game win streak, their latest a 92-70 rout of Butler on Jan. 28. They have not lost since a Jan. 3 defeat to Providence. DePaul (12-10) has lost three of its last four, including a narrow 68-66 defeat at Xavier on Saturday.

Saint John’s is powered by forward Zuby Ejiofor, who has been a consistent force during the streak. Over his last seven games, Ejiofor is averaging 15.1 points, 4.9 assists and 2.0 blocks per contest, showcasing versatile playmaking and defense. He posted a double-double of 13 points and 11 rebounds in a win at Xavier on Jan. 24.

The Blue Demons counter with forward NJ Benson, who is coming off a 14-point, 8-rebound performance in the loss to Xavier. His production has been variable, however, scoring four points or fewer in three of his last six outings. DePaul will need a major contribution from him to challenge the Red Storm’s momentum.

In the first meeting this season on Dec. 16, Saint John’s handled DePaul 79-66 in New York. The Red Storm have dominated the recent series, winning the last eight head-to-head matchups.

For Saint John’s, this game is a critical opportunity to solidify its conference standing before a daunting stretch that includes two games against No. 4-ranked Connecticut in February. For DePaul, which sits near the bottom of the Big East, a home upset would provide a crucial resume boost and halt a concerning slide.

Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. CST. The game will be broadcast on FS1.
