Wyoming at Fresno State

FRESNO, Calif. (Interstat) — A pair of Mountain West teams heading in opposite directions will meet Saturday when the Wyoming Cowboys visit the Fresno State Bulldogs at Save Mart Center.

Wyoming (11-6) looks to halt a sudden skid, having dropped three of its last four conference games after a strong start. The most recent was a 74-57 home loss to San Diego State on Wednesday. The Cowboys have struggled offensively in those defeats, averaging just 68 points in the three losses.

Fresno State (8-9), meanwhile, is coming off one of its best performances of the season, a 79-69 home victory over Colorado State on Tuesday. The win snapped a three-game losing streak for the Bulldogs and provided a boost to their conference standing.

A key matchup will feature Wyoming’s Gavin Gores against Fresno State’s high-scoring Jake Heidbreder. Gores, a consistent contributor, is coming off a 12-point effort against San Diego State. Heidbreder has been on a tear, averaging 21.2 points over his last five games. He poured in 23 points in the win over Colorado State and had 25 in a narrow loss to Nevada earlier this month.

The Cowboys have shown they can win on the road, with victories at Air Force and South Dakota State this season. However, their conference road games have been challenging, including a 20-point loss at New Mexico on Jan. 3.

Fresno State has found a rhythm at home, winning two of its last three at Save Mart Center. The Bulldogs will rely on Heidbreder and backcourt mate DeShawn Gory, who added 14 points and four assists against Colorado State.

Wyoming holds the superior overall record, but the Bulldogs’ recent form and home court advantage set the stage for a pivotal conference clash. The teams will meet again in Laramie on Feb. 17.

Tipoff is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 17, 2026.
