FRESNO, Calif. (Interstat) — The Colorado State Rams look to build on a key conference victory when they visit the struggling Fresno State Bulldogs in a Mountain West matchup Tuesday night at Save Mart Center.
The Rams (11-5) are coming off a 70-62 home win over UNLV last Friday, which snapped a two-game skid. Forward Carey Booth has been a consistent presence, coming off a 13-point, 3-block performance in that victory. Over his last five games, Booth is averaging 11.4 points and 2.6 blocks, including a 19-point outing in a road win at Grand Canyon.
Colorado State’s season has been marked by stark contrasts, featuring a 104-54 rout of Northern New Mexico and a 91-86 win over in-state rival Colorado, but also a 100-58 blowout loss at Utah State.
Fresno State (7-9) seeks to halt a three-game losing streak, most recently a 71-52 defeat at San Diego State on Saturday. The Bulldogs’ offense has sputtered, failing to reach 70 points in any of those three losses.
Guard DeShawn Gory has been a bright spot, leading the team with 16 points in each of the last two contests. His playmaking will be crucial against a Colorado State defense that has held opponents to 60 points or fewer in three of its wins.
The Bulldogs have struggled at home recently, with their last outing at Save Mart Center a narrow 66-65 loss to Nevada on Jan. 3.
Historically, the road team has won the last two meetings in this series. Colorado State will continue its road trip at Boise State on Friday, while Fresno State hosts Wyoming on Saturday.
Tuesday’s game tips off at 8 p.m. PST and will be broadcast on the Mountain West Network.
