Preview: TCU Horned Frogs at Kansas Jayhawks

LAWRENCE, Kan. (Interstat) — A pivotal early Big 12 Conference clash is set for Tuesday night as the TCU Horned Frogs visit the Kansas Jayhawks at Allen Fieldhouse.

Both teams enter with momentum from hard-fought league openers this past Saturday, but with differing results. TCU (11-3, 1-0 Big 12) held off Baylor 69-63 in Fort Worth, while Kansas (10-4, 0-1) fell 81-75 on the road at UCF.

The Horned Frogs have won six straight, the longest active streak in the conference, showcasing a balanced attack. Forward Micah Robinson is coming off a double-double against Baylor with 13 points and 10 rebounds, part of a recent surge where he averaged 11 points, 6.5 rebounds and 4.3 assists over his last four games. He is complemented by David Punch, who added 11 points and eight rebounds against the Bears.

Kansas, however, presents the toughest road test of TCU’s season to date. The Jayhawks are led by standout guard Darryn Peterson, who exploded for 26 points in just 22 minutes during the loss at UCF. His scoring prowess, averaging 21.5 points over his last two outings, will be central to Kansas’s hopes of defending its home court and avoiding an 0-2 conference start.

The matchup features a contrast in styles. TCU has leaned on its defense and rebounding during its win streak, holding its last four opponents under 65 points. Kansas, despite its record, has faced a daunting non-conference schedule with games against Duke, Connecticut, Tennessee and North Carolina State.

History heavily favors the Jayhawks at Allen Fieldhouse, where they have historically dominated conference play. TCU’s last victory in Lawrence came in 2013.

Tuesday’s contest is the first of two scheduled meetings this season between the programs. The outcome will provide an early indicator of positioning in what is expected to be a highly competitive Big 12 race.
