South Alabama at Jacksonville State

JACKSONVILLE, Ala. (Interstat) — Two undefeated teams will clash Wednesday when the South Alabama Jaguars visit the Jacksonville State Gamecocks in a non-conference men’s basketball matchup at Pete Mathews Coliseum.

South Alabama (5-0) enters as one of the nation’s remaining unbeatens, coming off a 72-62 home victory over Coppin State on Saturday. The Jaguars have been tested early, with their last four wins all decided by single digits, including narrow road victories at Toledo and Central Michigan.

Guard Adam Olsen is coming off a career-high 25-point performance against Coppin State, while Stephen Williams added 14 points and seven rebounds.

Jacksonville State (3-0) has cruised in its early schedule, posting dominant wins over Reinhardt and Oakwood before a more competitive 74-67 triumph over Coastal Carolina last Friday. Mostapha El Moutaouakkil exploded for 33 points in that win, showcasing the Gamecocks’ offensive firepower.

The game represents a step up in competition for the Gamecocks, who have yet to play a true road game. For the Jaguars, it’s the final contest of a challenging early-season stretch before a Friday in-state showdown at UAB.

Tipoff is set for Wednesday night. South Alabama next plays at UAB on Friday, while Jacksonville State travels to face Arkansas State on Monday.
