GREENVILLE, N.C. (Interstat) — Jordan Riley scored 31 points to propel East Carolina to an 84-68 victory over Memphis in an American Athletic Conference men’s basketball game Sunday at Williams Arena.

The Pirates built a 44-30 halftime lead and maintained control throughout the second half before a crowd of 4,195. Corey Caulker added 16 points and 11 assists for East Carolina, which improved to 11-18 overall.

Julius Thedford led Memphis with 16 points, while Dug McDaniel scored 15. The Tigers, who fell to 12-17, shot poorly from the field and could not overcome the early deficit. East Carolina, which had been projected to lose by national metrics, secured the win despite entering as a 5-point underdog.
