PHILADELPHIA (Interstat) — Nick Anderson scored 21 points to lead Rice to an 80-74 victory over Temple in an American Athletic Conference men’s basketball game Sunday at Liacouras Center.

The visiting Owls from Rice overcame a one-point halftime deficit by outscoring Temple 45-38 in the second half. Anderson’s performance was complemented by 15 points each from Jalen Smith and Trae Broadnax for Rice, which improved to 12-17.

Temple, which fell to 15-13, was led by Aiden Tobiason and Derrian Ford with 20 points apiece. Rice secured the win with superior ball movement and defense, recording seven assists and seven steals compared to Temple’s three in each category. Attendance was 2,684.
