South Dakota State at South Dakota
SOUTH DAKOTA STATE, SOUTH DAKOTA MEET IN SUMMIT LEAGUE REMATCH
VERMILLION, S.D. (Interstat) — The South Dakota Coyotes will host the South Dakota State Jackrabbits in a men’s NCAA Division I basketball game on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2026, at the DakotaDome in a critical late-season Summit League matchup.
South Dakota (15-15, 7-8 Summit) enters at .500 overall after an 89-72 home victory over Omaha on Wednesday, led by 26 points from guard Jordan Crawford. The Coyotes sit one game above .500 in conference play.
South Dakota State (13-16, 6-9) arrives following a 91-83 home win over North Dakota last Saturday, powered by 23 points and eight rebounds from guard Joe Sayler. The Jackrabbits have lost four of their last six.
The matchup is a swift rematch of a Feb. 7 thriller in Brookings, where the Coyotes escaped with a 68-67 victory. Crawford led South Dakota with 19 points in that contest, while Sayler countered with 21 for the Jackrabbits.
Crawford has been a consistent offensive force for the Coyotes, averaging 18.1 points over his last seven games, including a 33-point outing in an overtime loss to North Dakota State. Sayler, South Dakota State’s primary threat, is averaging 16.7 points in the same span and is coming off one of his best performances of the season.
The game carries weight for Summit League tournament seeding. South Dakota can solidify its position in the upper half of the standings, while South Dakota State looks to avenge its earlier loss and climb back to an even conference record.
South Dakota holds a slight edge in the season series and will have home-court advantage in the 10,000-seat DakotaDome. The Jackrabbits will aim to leverage their recent offensive momentum after scoring 91 points in their last outing.
Tipoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. CST. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
