William & Mary at North Carolina A&T
GREENSBORO, N.C. (Interstat) — A late-season Colonial Athletic Association men’s basketball matchup with contrasting momentum arrives at Corbett Sports Center on Saturday as North Carolina A&T hosts William & Mary.
The Tribe (17-11) enter February 28 riding high after an 84-77 home victory over Northeastern on Thursday. William & Mary has won four of its last six games to solidify its position in the upper half of the conference standings.
The Aggies (11-16), meanwhile, look to halt a two-game skid following a 65-88 loss at UNC Wilmington on Thursday. Consistency has been elusive for North Carolina A&T, which has alternated wins and losses over its past seven contests.
A key player to watch for the Aggies is Zamoku Weluche-Ume. The guard is coming off a 15-point performance in 34 minutes against UNC Wilmington and has been a focal point, scoring 19 points in a win over Elon just last week. His ability to generate offense will be critical against a William & Mary squad that allows an average of 74.6 points per game.
The teams met earlier this season, with William & Mary securing a 97-89 home win on Jan. 15. The Tribe’s offensive efficiency, evidenced by scoring 94 or more points in three of their last seven games, will test an Aggies defense that has conceded 88 points in each of its last two outings.
For William & Mary, maintaining its recent form on the road is essential. The Tribe’s next game is March 3 against Hampton. North Carolina A&T seeks a pivotal home victory before traveling to face Campbell on the same date.
Tip-off is set for Saturday at Corbett Sports Center. The game will be broadcast on regional sports networks.
