CHARLOTTE, N.C. (Interstat) — The Charlotte 49ers edged the North Texas Mean Green 80-79 in an American Athletic Conference men’s basketball game Wednesday night at Halton Arena.

Charlotte’s Major Freeman scored 16 points, including a crucial late basket, to help the 49ers improve to 15-13. North Texas, which fell to 16-13, was led by Reece Robinson’s game-high 23 points. David Terrell added 18 points and seven assists for the Mean Green.

The game was tightly contested throughout, featuring 14 lead changes. North Texas held a narrow 36-38 halftime deficit and briefly led in the final minutes before Charlotte secured the one-point victory. Attendance was 2,509.
