Kennesaw State at Jacksonville State
JACKSONVILLE, Ala. (Interstat) — A surging Kennesaw State looks to complete a regular-season sweep when it visits Jacksonville State in a Conference USA men’s basketball matchup Saturday at Pete Mathews Coliseum.
The Owls (14-8, 7-2 CUSA) enter with momentum, having won five of their last six games, including a commanding 76-53 victory over New Mexico State last Saturday. They sit near the top of the conference standings. The Gamecocks (11-10, 4-5), meanwhile, have dropped two of their last three and seek to stabilize their season with a pivotal home win.
The teams met just four weeks ago in Kennesaw, Ga., with the Owls securing an 88-82 win on Jan. 10. Kennesaw State guard RJ Johnson was instrumental in that victory, scoring 16 points. He has been on a tear since, averaging 24.1 points over his last seven games. His most recent outing was a standout 20-point, nine-rebound, seven-assist performance in the win over New Mexico State.
Jacksonville State will counter with guard JaCoby Hill, who scored 11 points in the first meeting. Hill is coming off a team-high 16 points in a 74-67 road loss to Missouri State last Saturday. Consistency from Hill and improved defense will be key for the Gamecocks, who allowed the Owls to shoot 50% from the field in the January contest.
Kennesaw State’s offense, fueled by Johnson’s dynamic playmaking and scoring bursts, presents a significant challenge. Supporting contributors like Frankquon Sherman and Jaden Harris, who combined for 27 points in the last game, provide depth. Jacksonville State will rely on its home-court advantage, where it is 7-3 this season, to slow the Owls’ pace and generate scoring from Hill and interior presence Mostapha El Moutaouakkil.
A Jacksonville State victory would even the season series and provide a crucial boost in the conference standings. A win for Kennesaw State would solidify its position among the league’s elite and demonstrate its capability to secure key road wins.
Tip-off is set for Saturday, Feb. 7, 2026, in Jacksonville.
