Gardner-Webb at Presbyterian
CLINTON, S.C. (Interstat) — The Presbyterian Blue Hose will look to sweep the season series and continue their push in the Big South Conference standings when they host the struggling Gardner-Webb Runnin’ Bulldogs on Saturday, Feb. 7, 2026, at the Templeton Center.
Presbyterian (11-13, 4-5 Big South) enters the matchup with momentum from a hard-fought, double-overtime 93-84 loss to Radford on Jan. 31, a game in which forward Jonah Pierce delivered a monumental performance. The player to watch for the Blue Hose, Pierce logged 47 minutes, scoring 28 points and grabbing 17 rebounds. He has been dominant lately, averaging 22.3 points over his last six games, including a 20-point effort in a 92-55 rout of Gardner-Webb just three weeks ago on Jan. 17.
Gardner-Webb (3-21, 1-8) seeks to halt a five-game skid and find a spark after a 66-86 home loss to Longwood on Wednesday. The Runnin’ Bulldogs’ season has been defined by offensive struggles, failing to reach 70 points in 10 of their last 11 games. Guard DJ Jefferson, their key performer, is coming off an 11-point outing against Longwood. He showed high-scoring potential with a 21-point game against Radford on Jan. 14 but was held to just 3 points in the January meeting with Presbyterian.
The Blue Hose won the first matchup this season in Boiling Springs, N.C., by 37 points, leading 46-19 at halftime and shooting 54% from the field. Presbyterian’s defense stifled Gardner-Webb into 30% shooting and 19 turnovers.
For Presbyterian, a victory is crucial to stay above .500 in conference play and maintain positioning for the upcoming Big South tournament. For Gardner-Webb, the game represents an opportunity for redemption and to build confidence during a difficult season. The task will be containing Pierce and generating consistent offense against a Blue Hose team that has proven capable of defensive dominance in this series.
Tipoff is set for Saturday afternoon in Clinton.
