George Washington at Duquesne
Preview: George Washington at Duquesne
PITTSBURGH (Interstat) — Two teams jockeying for position in a crowded Atlantic 10 Conference standings will meet Saturday when the Duquesne Dukes host the George Washington Revolutionaries.
Both teams enter the 7 p.m. EST tipoff at A.J. Palumbo Center with identical 13-10 overall records. The matchup is critical for both sides seeking to build momentum for the final month of the regular season.
George Washington arrives after a narrow 76-73 road loss at Saint Joseph’s on Wednesday. The Revolutionaries have lost four of their last five games, with the lone win in that stretch a dominant 85-69 victory over Richmond on Jan. 24.
Guard Trey Autry has been a key figure for GW. He scored 15 points in the loss to Saint Joseph’s and had a 17-point performance in a 101-66 win over Loyola Chicago on Jan. 10. His consistency will be vital for a Revolutionaries squad looking to snap its recent skid.
Duquesne, meanwhile, comes in with a two-game winning streak after a 71-65 victory at George Mason on Wednesday. That win followed a 76-61 home triumph over Rhode Island.
The Dukes have been sparked by the recent surge of guard Alex Williams. He exploded for a season-high 25 points in just 25 minutes off the bench in the win at George Mason. His scoring punch provides a significant boost for a Duquesne team that has shown resilience after a three-game losing streak in mid-January.
Historically, the series has been closely contested, adding another layer to the conference clash. Both teams will be looking to break the .500 logjam and climb the A-10 ladder.
For George Washington, the upcoming schedule offers no respite, with a quick turnaround to host Rhode Island on Tuesday. Duquesne hits the road for its next contest, a trip to Saint Bonaventure on Feb. 14.
Saturday’s game will be broadcast on the ESPN+ digital platform.
