Austin Peay at West Georgia

Preview: Austin Peay Governors at West Georgia Wolves

CARROLLTON, Ga. (Interstat) — A surging Austin Peay squad aims to continue its climb in the ASUN Conference standings when it visits a West Georgia team seeking consistency Saturday at The Coliseum.

The Governors (14-6, 8-2 ASUN) enter on a three-game winning streak following a 90-82 road victory at Eastern Kentucky on Wednesday. Austin Peay has won eight of its last nine contests, with the lone loss a narrow 82-78 defeat at Lipscomb on Jan. 17.

West Georgia (10-11, 4-6), in its second Division I season, looks to rebound from a heartbreaking 77-74 loss at Bellarmine on Wednesday. The Wolves have alternated wins and losses over their past six games.

The matchup features two of the league’s top offensive talents. Austin Peay guard Collin Parker is coming off a 25-point performance in 26 minutes against Eastern Kentucky, his third 25-point game in ASUN play this month. He averages 16.4 points in conference action.

He will be countered by West Georgia’s high-volume scorer Shelton Williams-Dryden, who poured in 25 points in the loss to Bellarmine. The forward has been a consistent force, scoring 19 or more points in seven of his last eight games, including a 32-point, 13-rebound effort in a win over Eastern Kentucky on Jan. 3.

Austin Peay’s success has been built on efficient offense and taking care of the ball, led by Parker and backcourt mate Zyree Collins, who dished out six assists Wednesday. The Governors average 79.2 points per game in ASUN play.

West Georgia, averaging 74.4 points in conference games, relies heavily on Williams-Dryden’s production. Support from players like JaVar Daniel and Brady Hardewig, who combined for 22 points off the bench against Bellarmine, will be crucial against a deeper Austin Peay rotation.

This is the first meeting between the programs as ASUN foes. Austin Peay sits in a tie for second place in the conference, while West Georgia is tied for ninth.

The Governors continue a tough stretch of road games, while the Wolves look to protect their home court, where they are 7-4 this season.

Tip-off is set for Saturday, Jan. 31, 2026.
