South Florida at Temple

PHILADELPHIA (Interstat) — Two of the American Athletic Conference’s hottest teams will meet Saturday when the South Florida Bulls visit the Temple Owls at Liacouras Center.

South Florida (14-7) enters on a six-game winning streak, its latest a 97-83 road victory at Tulane on Wednesday. The Bulls’ surge began after a pair of narrow home losses to open January, including a 109-106 double-overtime thriller against UAB.

The Bulls are powered by guard Wes Enis, who is coming off a 25-point performance against Tulane. Enis has been a consistent scoring threat, averaging 19.1 points over his last nine games, including a 36-point outing in the double-overtime loss to UAB. Joseph Pinion (17 points) and Adriel Nyorha (10 points) provided key support in the win over the Green Wave.

Temple (13-8) looks to bounce back from a tough 80-76 overtime home loss to Charlotte on Wednesday. The Owls had won two straight prior to that defeat. Guard Jordan Mason, who scored 20 points in 41 minutes against Charlotte, leads the Temple backcourt. Mason has shown high-level playmaking this season, dishing 12 assists in a win over Texas-San Antonio earlier this month.

The matchup features two of the conference’s top guards in Enis and Mason, both capable of carrying their teams offensively. South Florida’s offense has been potent during its streak, averaging 87.8 points over its last five wins. Temple’s defense, which held four of its last six opponents under 70 points prior to the Charlotte game, will be tested.

The series has been closely contested, and Saturday’s game carries weight for conference tournament seeding. Temple will look to protect its home court, where it is 9-3 this season, while South Florida aims to extend its streak and solidify its position in the AAC standings.

Tip-off is set for Saturday afternoon. Temple visits East Carolina next on Feb. 7, while South Florida hosts Texas-San Antonio on Feb. 4.
