Auburn at Tennessee

AUBURN, Ala. (Interstat) — Two of the Southeastern Conference’s hottest teams will collide Saturday when the Auburn Tigers visit the Tennessee Volunteers at Thompson-Boling Arena.

Auburn (14-7, 5-3 SEC) enters on a four-game winning streak, including an 88-82 home victory over Texas on Wednesday. The Tigers are powered by the explosive scoring of guard Keyshawn Hall, who dropped 31 points in that win. Over his last eight games, Hall is averaging 24.5 points, including outbursts of 32, 30 and 31 points, making him one of the most dynamic offensive players in the league.

Tennessee (14-5, 5-2) is riding a wave of its own, winning three straight, most recently an 86-85 overtime thriller at Georgia. The Volunteers are led by guard Ja’Kobi Gillespie, who scored 21 points and dished six assists in that victory. Gillespie has been a consistent force, scoring 20 or more points in five of his last seven contests, including a 34-point performance against Texas earlier this month.

This matchup pits Auburn’s surging offense against a typically stout Tennessee defense on its home floor. The Tigers have averaged 80.5 points during their win streak. The Volunteers, however, have held opponents to 73.2 points per game this season and are 9-1 at home, with the lone loss a two-point defeat to then-Kentucky.

Both teams are jockeying for position in a crowded SEC race. Auburn’s recent run has bolstered its postseason resume, while Tennessee looks to protect its spot near the top of the standings and maintain its ranking.

The game will tip off at 6 p.m. EST Saturday in Knoxville. For Auburn, it begins a tough stretch that includes games against Alabama and Kentucky later in February. Tennessee faces a quick turnaround, hosting Mississippi on Tuesday before a pivotal road trip to Kentucky next weekend.
