Fairleigh Dickinson at Stonehill
Preview: Fairleigh Dickinson Knights at Stonehill Skyhawks
EASTON, Mass. (Interstat) — Two men’s basketball teams looking to build momentum in Northeast Conference play will meet Thursday when the Fairleigh Dickinson Knights visit the Stonehill Skyhawks at Merkert Gymnasium.
Both teams enter with nearly identical records. Fairleigh Dickinson is 7-14 overall, while Stonehill sits at 6-14. Each squad is coming off a result that snapped a streak; the Knights saw a two-game win streak end with an 87-74 home loss to Le Moyne on Monday, while the Skyhawks halted a two-game skid with a narrow 61-59 victory over Central Connecticut the same day.
For Fairleigh Dickinson, guard David Jevtic has been a key contributor. He led the Knights with 14 points in the loss to Le Moyne and scored 13 points in a road loss to New Haven on Jan. 10. His playmaking will be central to the Knights’ efforts.
Stonehill counters with guard Rex Sunderland, who logged 34 minutes and dished four assists in the win over Central Connecticut. His facilitation has been steady, including a six-assist performance in a win at Wagner on Jan. 4.
The Knights’ offense will lean on Jevtic alongside Taeshaud Jackson (15 points vs. Le Moyne) and Joey Niesman (14 points). Stonehill’s recent win showcased balance, with Trenton Ruth contributing 12 points off the bench and Davante Hackett adding eight points.
This game opens a key two-week stretch for both programs as they navigate the NEC schedule. The teams will meet again in Teaneck, New Jersey, on Feb. 5.
Thursday’s contest tips off at 7 p.m. EST.
