Omaha at Missouri-Kansas City
OMAHA, Neb. (Interstat) — Summit League rivals Omaha and Missouri-Kansas City will meet for the second time this month Saturday when the Mavericks visit the Kangaroos at Municipal Auditorium.
Omaha (9-12) will look to avenge a 73-66 home loss to UMKC on Jan. 3. The Mavericks enter on a two-game skid, including a 68-64 defeat to South Dakota on Wednesday. UMKC (4-16) has lost five straight since that victory over Omaha, most recently a 90-62 loss at South Dakota State on Jan. 17.
The matchup features two of the league’s top individual performers. Omaha’s Paul Djobet is averaging 22.3 points over his last six games, including a 22-point effort in the first meeting with UMKC. The guard scored 22 points in 27 minutes against South Dakota last time out.
For the Kangaroos, Jerome Palm was a key factor in the Jan. 3 win, contributing 14 points. The forward is a consistent defensive presence, recording multiple blocks in three of his last five contests.
Despite UMKC’s overall record, its lone conference win came against Omaha. The Mavericks have struggled to close games, with three of their last five losses decided by five points or fewer. UMKC has faced defensive challenges, allowing an average of 90.2 points during its current losing streak.
Omaha holds a 9-12 all competitions record, while UMKC sits at 4-16. Both teams are seeking momentum in the second half of the conference schedule.
The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. CST tipoff at Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City, Missouri.
