HOUSTON (Interstat) — Texas-Rio Grande Valley never trailed Saturday, cruising to a 68-51 men’s basketball victory over Houston Christian at Sharp Gymnasium.

The Vaqueros built a 31-24 halftime lead and maintained control throughout, fueled by a stifling defense that forced 18 Huskies turnovers, converting them into 25 points. Koree Cotton led Texas-Rio Grande Valley with 16 points, while Marvin McGhee added 17. Demarco Bethea scored 14 for Houston Christian.

The Vaqueros shot 52.8% from the field and were perfect on four free throws. The Huskies managed only 42.6% shooting. Attendance was 798. Texas-Rio Grande Valley improved to 9-11 overall, while Houston Christian fell to 7-13.
