Purdue Fort Wayne at Detroit

DETROIT (Interstat) — A surging Purdue Fort Wayne looks to continue its climb in the Horizon League standings when it visits the Detroit Titans on Wednesday night at Calihan Hall.

The Mastodons (12-8, 5-2 Horizon) have won four straight conference games, most recently a 100-82 rout of Milwaukee on Sunday. They will face a Detroit team (8-10, 3-4) coming off a narrow 80-77 road win at IU Indy.

Purdue Fort Wayne’s offense is powered by guard Mikale Stevenson, who is averaging 22.3 points over his last three games. He erupted for a career-high 34 points, along with six assists, in the win over Milwaukee. He is supported by DeAndre Craig (20 points, eight rebounds) and Corey Hadnot (19 points, six assists) from that victory.

The Titans counter with guard Tyler Spratt, who has provided scoring punch off the bench. He tallied 16 points in the win at IU Indy and had a season-high 19 points in a victory over Cleveland State on Jan. 11.

This is a quick rematch of a Dec. 14 meeting, which Purdue Fort Wayne won 81-77 at home. In that game, the Mastodons overcame a 10-point halftime deficit.

Detroit has struggled at home in league play, losing its last two at Calihan Hall to Wright State and Robert Morris. Purdue Fort Wayne has found its rhythm after a 1-2 start to the Horizon schedule, with its only league losses coming against Green Bay and Milwaukee.

Wednesday’s contest is the first of two regular-season meetings. The Horizon League matchup tips off at 7 p.m. EST.
