Late Swartz Jumper Lifts Creighton Past Xavier in Big East Thriller

OMAHA, Neb. (Interstat) — Austin Swartz hit a decisive jump shot with four seconds remaining Wednesday night to lift the Creighton Bluejays to a 94-93 victory over the Xavier Musketeers in a Big East men’s basketball game at CenturyLink Center.

In a game featuring 16 lead changes and no team leading by more than seven points, Creighton erased a three-point deficit in the final minute. Swartz’s game-winner capped his 16-point performance and avenged a 41-point loss Xavier suffered to the Bluejays last month.

Tre Carroll led all scorers with 29 points for Xavier, which fell to 11-8. Nik Graves paced Creighton with 16 points and nine assists as the Bluejays improved to 12-8 before a crowd of 16,485. Both teams shot over 50% from the floor and were identical from three-point range, making 13 of 24 attempts.
