Dayton at Duquesne
Preview: Dayton Flyers at Duquesne Dukes
PITTSBURGH (Interstat) — The Dayton Flyers, off to a strong start in Atlantic 10 play, will look to continue their momentum on the road against the Duquesne Dukes on Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2026, at the A.J. Palumbo Center.
Dayton (12-3, 2-0 A-10) enters having won three straight, including a 79-72 home victory over George Washington last Tuesday. The Flyers have been led by the steady backcourt play of Keonte Jones, who scored 15 points with three assists in that win. Over his last five games, Jones is averaging 10.0 points and 3.2 assists per contest.
The Dukes (9-7, 0-2) are seeking their first conference win after a tough start, most recently falling 97-90 in overtime at Saint Joseph’s last Wednesday. Duquesne showed offensive firepower in the loss, with Tarence Guinyard scoring 20 points and David Dixon adding 15 points and three blocks. Dixon has been a defensive presence, recording three blocks in three of his last four games.
Dayton’s resume includes notable non-conference wins over Marquette and Florida State, the latter a 97-69 rout. Their three losses have come by a combined 10 points. Duquesne’s season has been more inconsistent, with blowout wins over non-Division I Cleary and Canisius but double-digit losses to Power Five foes Nevada and Boise State.
The matchup pits Dayton’s efficient, balanced attack against a Duquesne team capable of high scoring but struggling for defensive consistency in league play. The Flyers will aim to control the tempo, while the Dukes will need a strong performance at home to avoid an 0-3 hole in the conference standings.
This is the first of two scheduled meetings between the teams this season. They are slated to meet again at Dayton on Saturday, Feb. 21.
