South Florida Upsets Tulsa Behind Enis’ 32 Points

TULSA, Okla. (Interstat) — In a game defined by a blistering offensive start and a relentless defensive effort, the South Florida Bulls handed the Tulsa Golden Hurricane a decisive 93-78 defeat in American Athletic Conference men’s basketball action Saturday afternoon at the Donald Reynolds Center.

The victory, played before a crowd of 3,303, improved South Florida to 10-6 overall, while Tulsa, which entered the game with a 13-2 record and as a 2.5-point favorite, fell to 13-3.

The most important part of the game was its opening salvo. South Florida established immediate and overwhelming control, racing to a 15-point halftime lead behind a torrent of three-pointers and a disruptive defensive scheme. The Bulls connected on 10 of their 16 three-point attempts in the first half, with guard Wes Enis setting the tone by hitting four of them in the first 12 minutes. This perimeter barrage, combined with active hands that forced eight first-half Tulsa turnovers, allowed South Florida to build a 51-36 advantage by the intermission.

Tulsa, led by a heroic individual effort from forward David Green, never fully recovered. The Golden Hurricane managed to match South Florida’s second-half output of 42 points but could never cut the deficit to single digits. Green, a 6-foot-7 junior from Apopka, Florida, finished with a game-high 34 points on 10-of-15 shooting from the field and a perfect 12-of-12 from the free-throw line, adding eight rebounds. His performance, however, was largely isolated against a cohesive South Florida attack.

The Bulls’ offense was a model of efficiency, scoring 93 points on just 73 possessions for an offensive rating of 127.4. They compensated for a modest 47.8% field goal percentage by taking 27 more shot attempts than Tulsa, a direct result of dominating the offensive glass 13-4 and forcing 13 turnovers while committing only 10.

Enis, a 6-foot-2 guard from Conover, Ohio, was the catalyst, pouring in 32 points, including 8-of-18 shooting from beyond the arc. He added four rebounds and three assists. The top star for South Florida was Izaiyah Nelson, the 6-foot-10 forward from Marietta, Georgia, who controlled the paint with 22 points and 14 rebounds for a double-double. Guard Joseph Pinion provided crucial support with 16 points and five rebounds.

For Tulsa, guard Miles Barnstable contributed 14 points and four assists, while Tylen Riley added 10 points. The Golden Hurricane struggled mightily from the floor, shooting just 41.7% overall and 30.4% from three-point range. Their offense was kept afloat by 31 made free throws on 39 attempts.

South Florida’s defensive pressure was particularly effective against Tulsa’s ball movement, holding the Golden Hurricane to a season-low five assists for the game. The Bulls also recorded 10 steals, led by Adriel Nyorha’s five, which fueled their transition game and high-possession attack.

The win marks a significant road result for South Florida as it navigates the AAC schedule. The Bulls will look to build on this performance when they host East Carolina on Wednesday. Tulsa, which saw its six-game home winning streak snapped, must regroup quickly for a road test at Charlotte, also on Wednesday.

According to Interstat’s ELO system, Tulsa had a 58% probability to win pregame. The combined score of 171 points went over the betting over/under line of 164.5.
