Army at Boston University

BOSTON (Interstat) — Two teams looking to gain traction in the Patriot League will meet Saturday when Boston University hosts Army in a men’s NCAA Division I basketball matchup at Agganis Arena.

The Terriers (6-10) and Black Knights (7-9) enter with nearly identical records, both seeking consistency as conference play deepens. Boston University is coming off an 83-67 road win at Lafayette on Wednesday, while Army fell 84-76 in overtime to Loyola Maryland the same night.

The game features a compelling showdown between two of the league’s top scorers. Army is led by guard Ryan Curry, who is averaging 21.3 points over his last four games. Curry posted a triple-double of 19 points and 14 rebounds in a win at Lehigh on Dec. 31 and followed with 24 points and seven assists against Colgate on Jan. 3. He scored 19 in the loss to Loyola Maryland.

Boston University will counter with guard Michael McNair, who erupted for a season-high 29 points in the victory over Lafayette. McNair has scored in double figures in nine consecutive games and is a focal point of the Terriers’ offense.

Army has shown a pattern of playing close contests, with three of its last five games requiring overtime. The Black Knights are 2-1 in those extra-period games. Boston University has struggled to close out tight league games, suffering narrow losses to American (64-62) and Navy (82-77) in its last three outings.

Historically, the home team has dominated this series. Boston University has won the last five meetings played at Agganis Arena. Army’s last win in Boston came in 2017.

Saturday’s contest is the first of two regular-season meetings between the programs this season. They will play again at West Point, New York, on Feb. 11.

Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. EST. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
