UCLA at Wisconsin

Preview: UCLA at Wisconsin in Big 10 Showdown

MADISON, Wis. (Interstat) — Two teams looking to rebound from conference-opening losses will meet Tuesday night when the UCLA Bruins visit the Wisconsin Badgers at the Kohl Center.

The Bruins (10-4) and Badgers (9-5) each dropped their Big 10 contests on Saturday, setting the stage for a pivotal early-season matchup. UCLA fell 74-61 at Iowa, while Wisconsin was defeated 89-73 by Purdue at home.

UCLA’s fortunes hinge on the play of dynamic guard Donovan Dent. The junior is coming off a 25-point, five-assist performance against Iowa and has been a consistent catalyst. Over his last five games, Dent is averaging 16 points and 6.2 assists, including a double-double of 16 points and 11 assists in a win over Cal Poly on Dec. 19.

Wisconsin will counter with its own high-scoring guard in Nick Boyd. He poured in a season-high 24 points in the loss to Purdue, marking his third 20-point game in the last five outings. Boyd is averaging 19.8 points per game over that stretch and will be a primary focus for the Bruins’ defense.

The Bruins have shown offensive firepower, scoring 90 or more points in three of their last six games. However, their two losses in that span, at Gonzaga and Iowa, highlighted struggles on the road against physical competition.

Wisconsin’s season has been marked by volatility, with impressive wins over Marquette and Providence alongside lopsided losses to Nebraska and BYU. Their defense, which allowed 89 points to Purdue, will be tested by UCLA’s pace.

This game marks a significant early conference test for both squads as they navigate the rugged Big 10 schedule. UCLA’s upcoming slate includes a home date with Maryland, while Wisconsin hits the road for games at Michigan and Minnesota following Tuesday’s contest.

Tip-off is set for 9 p.m. EST Tuesday at the Kohl Center in Madison.
